Hopkins(Garifuna Independence Day)-Nov.19th

We decided to go to Hopkins for Garifuna independence day. People had said it would be a huge celebration. It turns out the population of Hopkins is only 1,000 so the celebration wasn’t as big as we expected.

IMG_3425.JPGThere was a small hut with drumming and a BBQ that we decided to check out. We got some lunch, chicken, beans, and rice, and headed down to the beach, and ate on the sand. It was delicious. After that we went back to the hut and listened to some drumming.

Some people were coming around selling treats called Tableta. Mum and dad each bought us one, and after a taste they decided to get one also. I would definitely recommend making them. Here is the simple and quick recipe.
